Brillare, meaning to shine, unfolds across a pair of canvases that communicate through contrast and illumination. The left panel is grounded in slate grey, soot, and soft rain-textured veils that settle like atmospheric haze. Scraped layers carve through the surface and reveal earlier decisions and structural depth. The right panel moves into luminous ochre, warm gold, and deep black, creating a moment of radiant breakthrough.

Brillare expresses the shift from quiet internal strength to unmistakable outward clarity. Gina Keatley, as a contemporary abstract painter, uses scraping and rain techniques to explore emergence, momentum, and the courage to reveal one’s own light. The grounded left canvas evokes reflection and restraint. The glowing right canvas captures the moment when persistence becomes brilliance. Together they form a central pillar of the Persistent Prosecco series, a visual narrative about becoming, lifting, and stepping into shine.
