Abyss Thread is a meditation on fracture and tether—a visual unraveling of depth and connection. Gina Keatley draws the viewer into a shadowed, atmospheric plane where textures compress like geological sediment and strands of form cut through darkness like deepwater currents.

The green form, partially obscured, emerges like an ancient fossil or a drifting seed—half-remembered, half-reclaimed. Rust-colored specks punctuate the surface, suggesting heat or decay, while the black field absorbs and resists the eye, like a cavern that holds more than it reveals.

There’s a tactile weight to the work, as if layers have been scraped back and rebuilt again—evidence of passage and pressure. The piece resists clarity. Instead, it offers something truer: a sense of something held tenuously together beneath the surface.

Abyss Thread becomes a symbol of survival beneath pressure—an abstract, intuitive map of descent, persistence, and the invisible fibers that bind what is breaking.
